1981
Set design for the ballet 'Phèdre, acte II, scène 5', choreographed by Alain Marty and premièred at the Opéra Comique in Paris.
Relief in Barajas International Airport in Madrid (currently on display in the Alicante Airport).
A bronze plaque is hung in the Parliament of Catalonia in honor of the Resistance, sculpted by Subirachs and presented by the Associació Catalana d'Expresos Polítics.

1982
Acceptancy speech marking his election as a member of the Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi.
The Generalitat de Catalunya awards him the Creu de Sant Jordi.
The sculpture Núria-Fedra, inspired by Salvador Espriu's work 'Una altra Fedra, si us plau' performed by the actress Núria Espert, is installed in the venue for the Museu de les Arts de l’Espectacle, which forms part of the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona.

His granddaughter Clea Subirachs Barraquer is born on 29 March in Sant Climent de Llobregat.

On December 8th, his sister Maria dels Àngels dies in Madrid.

Monument to the builders of the Cathedral of Girona, in the Jewish quarter of this city.

On June 10th, the 60th anniversary of the death of Antoni Gaudí, he joins the work being undertaken in the Sagrada Família Temple in Barcelona to create groups of sculptures for the Passion Façade.

1987
He moves into a dwelling located within the grounds of the Sagrada Família temple under construction in Barcelona.
Monument The Pillars of Heaven commemorating the Seoul Olympic Games (South Korea).
For his contribution to the world of the Arts, he is named 'Personnalité de l’Année', an international distinction awarded in Paris.
In November, The Flagellation is put in place, his first sculpture on the Passion Façade of the Sagrada Família Temple in Barcelona.

1988
Monument to Gaspar de Portolà, with the collaboration of Francesc Carulla, in San Francisco (California).
Monument to Federico García Lorca in Cadaqués.
Sparo Prize from the Agrupació Catalana d’Entitats Artístiques.

1989
Elected member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid.
Monument Union between the Eastern and the Western World in Seoul (South Korea), on the occassion of the first anniversary of the Olympic Games held in this country.
Sculpture Clio in Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra).

1990
Gives his acceptance speech as elected member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid.
Bust of the president Lluís Companys in the Pati dels Tarongers of the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Monument to the Millennium of Catalonia in Tarragona.
The book 'Subirachs' by Lourdes Cirlot, published by Artur Ramon, is presented at the Tocs bookshop in Barcelona.
The Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya organizes a retrospective exhibition of the work of Subirachs in the Art Museum Ginza of Tokyo (Japan).
